Brian and Eric post a BNAT travelogue

December 27th, 2008

Pictures are very scarce from BNAT X, so I greatly appreciate Brian Day and Eric Burgess for pointing to me to their 2008 BNAT travelogue replete with plenty of photos.  Albeit, many of their shots merely set the tone for the actual event and leave the mystery of the BNAT 24 hours shrouded in mystery.  This is as it should be I suppose….

28 Hours and Counting!

December 12th, 2008

Hey guys, looking forward to seeing you all at BNAT this year in just 28 hours and counting!

We’ve finished the seat assignments and badge printing, all the films are here or fully tracked and we are just about ready to go.  The only thing missing now is a short list of folks who have yet to pay for their tickets.  At this point, we have suspended online sales, but not to worry.  If your name is on this list, please show up at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar on Saturday between 10am and 11am, and you will be able to purchase your ticket.

That would help us out immensely.  If we don’t have payment by 11:30 AM on Saturday morning, we will be giving away your seat to folks in the standby line.  Doors open at 11:00 AM this  Saturday morning and we hope to have everyone seated by 11:30 AM and the show on the road by 11:45 AM.

One last thing, Harry is hosting an informal gathering tonight at Scholtz Garden (http://www.scholzgarten.net/) at 1607 San Jacinto starting at 7:30 PM.  Come and meet up with the rest of the BNAT club and enjoy a beer or two.

If you have any questions, or you feel you are on this list in error, please drop me an email at tim@originalalamo.com.

The unpaid list:
Oya Bulak
Christi Cromer
Josh Emanuel
Boyd Ford
Denis Mcelwaine
Hailey Miller
Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Jackie Lee Morgan
Kaela Morgan
Kristoffer Aaron Morgan
Rick Parker
Jon Peele
Haydn Porter
Tony Salvaggio
Scott Swan
Rod Whitenack
Lauren Williams

Thanks and see you all soon!

Friday Night Meet Up Spot and such…

December 11th, 2008

Hey guys,

Harry is hosting a little informal gathering the night before BNAT, Friday night at

SCHOLZ BEER GARTEN
1607 San Jacinto
7:30 – ???

You guys are all adults at least in years, so you can control yourselves I’m sure… I offer a word of advice to the newbies though: 24 hours of movies is grueling.  Get plenty of sleep the night before and don’t drink toooo many cocktails on Friday.

One last thing – there are absolutely no cameras or recording devices of any kind allowed at BNAT. We’ll be checking before you enter the theater, so the best move is to not bring them at all.  If you have a camera on your phone, leave that at home too.  See you soon!

BNAT 10 Breakfast Menu announced

December 9th, 2008

For those coming to BNAT for the first time, or for those who are rusty and need a refresher course, here’s how the food service works:

Our full menu is available until late in the night, probably around 2AM when we shut off alcohol sales and pare down to a late night snack service.  At around 7:00 AM we’ll start serving a breakfast menu and then for the last round of movies around 10 AM or so we’ll be back to our regular menu (and alcohol service).

The 2008 Breakfast menu is below:

“The Breakfast Club” $7.99
Thick peppered bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and a fried egg, served with home
fries

Crème Brulee French Toast $7.99
Thick Sourdough soaked in vanilla custard seared on the griddle, served with
fresh fruit

Smoked Salmon and Goat Cheese Patè $5.99
With crostini, shaved shallot, and crispy fried capers

Bacon Cheddar Scones $4.99
Savory version of the classic English biscuit, loaded with pepper smoked
bacon and Vermont white cheddar

Huevos Alamo $7.99
A fried white corn tortilla topped with black beans, two eggs, green chiles
and manchego cheese, served with home fries

The Red Dawn $5.99
Seasonal fruit, house made pecan honey granola with raspberry yogurt

Five Days and Counting

December 1st, 2008

The Schedule is locked, the goodie bag items are flooding into the office and the Alamo logistics team is busy preparing an assortment of both delightful and horrifying treats for your amusement.  I wanted to confirm a couple of key details for newbies and veterans alike.  First of all, I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that BNAT will be held at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar for the first time this year.  There is plenty of parking at the theater.  We will begin letting people in at 11:00 AM and will start the show PROMPTLY at noon.  With 24 hours of programming, our schedule is run on miltary precision.  We’d appreciate it if everyone could arrive at 11:00 AM so we can process check-in, distribute bags and shirts and get the show started on time.  If anyone has any specific dietary requirements, questions, medical needs or anything like that, please forward those to the Alamo South Lamar general manager Kristen Bell.

A couple other things I should warn you guys about:

1) We don’t allow talking during the movies.  You are going to be in a room FULL of cinephiles.  If you have a comment, we ask that you save it until the closing credits.  Talking extends to texting and cell phones as well.  Don’t do it in the theater or I might get angry…and you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

2) Don’t sleep during BNAT.  Get plenty of rest the night before and if you are getting sleepy, go splash some water on your face, cut your arm with a razor blade or do whatever is necessary to regain your focus.  The Alamo reserves the right to torture sleepers with electric shock and/or ancient Chinese techniques.  By reading this now, you are legally agreeing to these terms.

I can’t wait to see old friends and meet a bunch of new ones at this truly magical experience.  We’ll see you in five days and counting!
